Academics

The academic program at Shakopee Area Catholic School is excellent.

All students in grades 2 through 8 take the NWEA MAP assessments in the fall and spring. Our students consistently score well above state and national average.

The longer students stay at SACS, the more academic growth they experience. Our middle school students’ MAP scores are in the top 10% of the nation.

Our students are very well prepared for the next step in their educational journey. Our graduates attend a variety of high schools, including Holy Family Catholic High School, Shakopee High School, Academy of Holy Angels, St. Thomas Academy, Benilde St. Margaret’s, Chesterton Academy, and Prior Lake High School.

We have a full-time Gifted and Talented Teacher, and we offer accelerated classes.

We have a full-time Special Education Teacher on-site as well as a full-time Special Services Coordinator.

Many of our graduates enroll in honor classes in high school.

STEM is included in the curriculum in every grade.

Technology is used seamlessly by students in their daily learning. The school provides each student in grades K – 8 his/her own chromebook.

In addition to our strong academics, many enrichment programs are embedded into the curriculum. Some examples are: 8th grade Capstone class, Junior Achievement, Believe and Read, middle school retreats, outdoor overnight camps, DARE, student-led media production lab, Destination Imagination, and Project Lead the Way.
